Between history and culture: the lecture hall of the Cavallerizza Reale of Turin

It will be the new one Aula Magna of the University of Turin, born within the suggestive Royal Horseman, to host the works of the first International Festival of Food Journalism. Located in the "royal" heart of Turin, the Cavallerizza Reale is a magnificent building in Baroque, built to carry out the equestrian exercises and court performances, to which, between the XVII and XVIII centuries, important architects of the time worked as Amedeo di Castellamonte, Filippo Juvarra and Benedetto Alfieri. Became in the 1997, together with the other Savoy residences, UNESCO World Heritage Site and after being home to the Teatro Stabile di Torino, in recent years the Cavallerizza has experienced several vicissitudes, including a fire in the 2014.

With the decision by the Municipality to “securitize” some of its real estate properties, selling them to private individuals, at the end of 2014 theUniversity of Turin has decided to redevelop a part of the Cavallerizza, the former Chiablese handling, transforming it into its own futuristic Great Hall, with a capacity of up to 450 seats. Currently it is the only part of the building to be accessible and suitable for hosting public events and events of various kinds.

Il Festival of Food Journalism has decided to hold its first edition here, because it is one of the symbols of the history and architectural beauty of the city. A place that, thanks to the efforts of the University of Studies, must return to live in all its splendor and to be one of the main poles of Turin and Italian culture. Where to create a sparkling debate and giving new impetus to the young minds of the future.
