From the FAO an appeal to the Festival: "Journalists first ambassadors of the Zero Hunger Generation"

A qualifying presence for the Festival is certainly that of Clara Vélez-Fraga, Head of Promotion and Dissemination Office of the FAO Institutional Communication Department. She is the one who took care of the UN presence at Expo, and it is always she who today actively promotes the role of FAO to improve information and communication on food issues.

The Vélez-Fraga speaks, tomorrow, at the inaugural meeting of the Festival dedicated to food policies and will launch an appeal to the world of information so that it feels more and more involved, together with the United Nations, in the common mission of raising awareness of the right to food (quality) and nutrition education.

If the UN challenge for the next 15 years it is eliminate hunger, achieve food security, improve nutrition and promoting sustainable agriculture, it is necessary that all sectors in society are conscious, informed and fully motivated.

To win the new big FAO challenge for the 2016, ie the construction of the Zero Hunger Generation, which will have to be able to eliminate the tragedy of hunger throughout one's life, it is necessary to start right from the quality of information. It is therefore very important to reach the citizens il relationship with the media and information operators.

Here the concept is: FAO helps journalists to do their jobs better by assisting them in their research work; trains journalists by increasing their professionalism. Journalists which, for FAO, they must be the first ambassadors of the Zero Hunger Generation.

It will not be an easy job, even here in the free Western world, where life is not always risked for an inquiry or a report.

But this is one of those challenges that not only is worth gathering, but for a journalist it can also be a good (and beautiful) reason for professional life.
