JournalistsSocial partner of the Festival of Food Journalism

GiornalistiSocial, the largest online community of social media journalists, is businesses of the Festival of Food Journalism. Joining the event, which will be held in Turin from 25 to 27 next February, is an obligation, according to Andrea Tortelli, a young journalist from Brescia, founder of the site which boasts around 30 thousand unique subscribers. "The Festival is to be supported because it is an authoritative place where journalists from all over Italy will meet and we are interested in making sure that we value the initiatives that talk about journalism, to collaborate with the realities of the sector and always offer new services to colleagues"- says Tortelli -"I want to thank the director, Massimiliano Borgia and all of you at the organization because I believe that today, for journalists (and readers), we need offline (as well as online) initiatives for public debate on journalism ”.

Networking with events concerning the journalistic profession and undertaking co branding initiatives is a strategy of the last year and a half, for the site founded by Tortelli. The occasion of a Festival on the communication of food it is very important to keep the attention on the concepts of transparency (from the supply chain to labeling, for example) e truth of the news. Transparency and truth that must be cardinal principles for the world of information. "For the reader, the primary need is more and more knowledge and knowledge; doing the right information is the journalist's job " - adds Tortelli - “Compared to food, I think of the recent oil alarms. A journalist who wants to give correct information on this issue wonders why extra virgin olive oil at the supermarket can cost up to 4 euros per bottle. Then try to reconstruct the news from the source".

At the Turin Festival it will be given a lot of space on the topic of food safety and correct information. Like the communication of food on social media, a space occupied largely by Journalists. The community is present on Facebook, as well as with the page that counts 5.000 like with the group 'Italian journalists on Facebook', 17.000 members and a very high daily interaction of users. "Personally I don't produce content, except for some rare exceptions in which I post something about the future of journalism or let me know the conventions we activate", Says Tortelli.

Su LinkedIn the community has 3.500 profiled members. On Twitter (@mediaesocial), last account activated, 15.000 followers are counted reached in five months.

"Our networking is to provide free services to journalists, as well as to discuss issues that may interest the community (from training courses, what to do for the profession, to discussions on ethical issues). We are working to implement the site, now in a trial version, but already active with sections dedicated to useful tools for 2.0 journalism and rankings (journalists, broadcasts, newspapers, newscasts) of the most loved on Facebook. In particular, we want to enrich the forum space and also allow colleagues to profile online and upload their own CVs”, Concludes the Lombard journalist.
