With Argotec at the Festival, for an extraordinary Space Food Experience

With Argotec in the space. The Italian aerospace engineering company, based in Turin, is technical partner of the Festival. On Friday 26 February, at 12.30, there will be a way to live a real one Space Food Experience, to enjoy the menu reserved for astronauts during their stay in orbit.

Argotec carries out an activity focused on research, innovation and development in various sectors: engineering, information technology, systems integration and human space flights and operations on behalf of the European Space Agency (ESA) and other European industries and agencies.

Argotec instructors train ESA astronauts at the European Astronaut Center (EAC) in Cologne and train ground personnel. Furthermore, in its state-of-the-art laboratories, Argotec has designed and developed numerous engineering products and solutions that can be used on the International Space Station (ISS), but also able to have an immediate return on Earth.

In the research area, the Turin-based company is developing solutions in the field of renewable energy, in particular passive heat transfer. The heat pipe technology, developed to withstand the extreme conditions of space, has been transformed into a terrestrial application to build more efficient and less expensive heating systems.

In the food field, it was born ISSpresso, the first capsule espresso machine able to work in microgravity conditions, also allowing the preparation of different hot drinks and for the rehydration of food. in Space Food Lab, moreover, a specialized team has studied and implemented the bonus food of some European astronauts like Luca Parmitano, Alexander Gerst and Samantha Cristoforetti while with the ReadyToLunch brand the know-how developed in the space sector was applied to the earth, making it available also to land users.

ISSpresso comes from an Argotec project and a Lavazza, the historic made in Italy coffee brand. "The collaboration between Argotec and Lavazza, in partnership with ASI, demonstrates how the synergy between two Italian companies - in particular Turin - which represent excellence in their sector, can lead to extraordinary results of international importance", they declared. David Avino, managing director of Argotec, and Giuseppe Lavazza, vice president of the Lavazza Group.
