From the next Expo to buffaloes in the editorial office: the program of the Festival of Food Journalism

Food journalism in the face of science, economics, politics, food and wine, food education and customs. The program of the Festival, from 25 at the 27 in February at the Aula Magna of the Cavallerizza Reale of Turin, is full of ideas and insights, including debates, lessons and case studies.

Thursday February 25

The event will open in the morning with the National conference on food policies after Expo. The day's work will end with The food and wine criticism 2.0: from the guides to the blog, a debate to understand the new phenomenon of foodbloggers, capable of conveying its judgment on restaurants and food through social media. Between old and new professional figures, the problem remains that of information quality.

Friday February 26

The second day of the Festival will open, in the morning, with the debate How food research can become news. University research, often set aside by journalism, because it is considered difficult to communicate, can often hide important news for the general public, which need a correct and accurate disclosure. To follow, the interesting lesson dedicated to Food crimes, an opportunity, for black and judicial journalists, to better understand the complex universe of food crimes and its regulations, to communicate them in the most correct way to its public of readers. The morning will end with From pizzetta to broccoli: when communication pushes children to eat well, with the analysis of some communication experiences with children, to understand how to direct them towards a healthy diet and how to orient family spending choices.

The afternoon's work will begin with the debate Food safety, how it is perceived and how it is communicated, during which we will analyze the importance of creating a direct dialogue between organizations, companies and journalists to communicate food safety to citizens in greater depth. Following the lesson If the mozzarella causes illness and the meat is carcinogenic, the errors not to be committed in communicating food alarms, during which, starting from the research of the University of Turin, the techniques for dealing with crisis communication will be explained when a food alarm breaks out.

The day will end with the debate Between concept food and apericena: the casual language of food journalism, with an analysis on the different languages ​​of the food world, because a correct communication towards the public passes, above all, from a careful and conscious choice of the lexicon.
