Will Maria Caramelli, director of the Zooprophylactic Institute of Piedmont, Liguria and Valle d'Aosta, to open the Festival panel dedicated to the communication of scientific research in the food sector, 26 February 2016 Friday at 10.

Dr. Maria Caramelli, veterinarian and long-time researcher, he is one of the leading Italian experts in food safety and research on the relationship between food of animal origin and human health.

In the 2013 the "Sole 24 ore" has included it among the 10 women scientists who honor Italy.

Precisely because of its authority Caramelli was also invited to formulate its own proposals for new and more effective food safety policies at the inaugural Festival conference, in the presence of the FAO and the Government.

In addition to being director of the Zooprofilattico of Turin, Caramelli is specialized in inspection of food of animal origin, research doctor in comparative veterinary pathology and member of the European College of veterinary public health.

Maria Caramelli has more than 130 publications in national and international journals, in addition to the writing of 3 chapters of scientific books. Among the most important works, the publication in the American journal Pnas of the results, reported later by the New York Times, related to the discovery of a new form of Bse.

It has recently committed itself to other aspects of food safety, including for example the case of blue mozzarella, the European scandal of racehorse-based lasagna, wild boar contaminated with Cesio137 and the problem of hepatitis A in fruits of frozen woods.

In the 2014 he has collected some of his professional experiences in the field of food safety in the book of which he is the author "To not find out by eating ... food security in our country" published by Instar books.
