Ilva trial, Guariniello could be a civil party lawyer
The former Turin prosecutor Raffaele Guariniello could be a civil lawyer in the Ilva trial. He spoke about it on the sidelines of his panel at the Food Journalism Festival of Turin. Guariniello, 75 years, who retired last December 31, yesterday he was sworn in as a lawyer, a role that for two years he will not be able to exercise in Turin, as required by law. In his career as a magistrate, Guariniello has carried out famous investigations: the Di Bella method, "mad cow", up to the recent Thyssen and Eternit trials. In January, having left the judiciary, the former public prosecutor announced his new role as "advocate for the poor", in defense of the weakest.
The Ilva steel mill is involved in the maxi-trial for environmental crimes and pollution that counts 47 defendants including managers of the Taranto plant and politicians, a thousand civil parties, more than 100 lawyers and over six years of investigations.
