Our director Massimiliano Borgia at the Salone del Libro to talk about food policy

borgiaIl Festival of Food Journalism participate in the XXX Turin Book Fair with the moderation of the double meeting with the mayor of the city Chiara Appendino dedicated to urban food policies on Friday 19 May starting at 10.30 at the City of Turin stand (Pavilion 1). The theme of the so-called "food policy" is a constant of the Festival which has dedicated two panels to this very current theme during the first edition (February 2016) and a panel in the second (February 2017). The Festival will be present in the person of the director, Massimiliano Borgia, which will moderate the comparison, on the subject of the right to quality food, between the mayor and the representatives of the citizens, research and institutions that have contributed to elaborate the food policies of Turin. On this occasion, Appendino will also announce the first measures to implement the policies decided in a two-year listening path that ended at the end of 2015. The occasion of the comparison will be the presentation of two publications born of that long work of involving citizens' representatives. The first debate, from 10.30 to 12 will take inspiration from the presentation of the book Food in the City, Turin Food Policy. Good practices and perspectives, edited by Maria Bottiglieri, Giacomo Pettenati, Alessia Toldo, Edizioni Franco Angeli, Milan 2017. Hanger, flanked by the assessor Stefania Giannuzzi, will dialogue with the actors of the Turin food system, protagonists of the publication. The introduction will be entrusted to Maria Bottiglieri, responsible for international cooperation and peace in the City of Turin. Speakers Egidio Dansero, University of Turin, among the most attentive scholars of food policies and Elena Di Bella, manager of the Metropolitan City of Turin that in the Turin area has started historic projects such as the Basket of typical products and the clauses for zero-kilometer products in school canteens. Afterwards, from 12.00 to 13.30, the Einaudi stand will also host the debate Food: is it a common good? with the presentation of the Labsus Booklet Food, citizens and urban spaces. Towards a shared administration of the Urban Food Policy of Turin, edited by Daniela Ciaffi, Francesca De Filippi, Giulia Marra, Emanuela Saporito. Here too, the mayor will open the meeting hanger, Followed by Maria Bottiglieri. Interventions by Giacomo Pettenati of the University of Turin, with a report on the local food system as a common good, ed Emanuela Saporito, of the Polytechnic, on food as a relational common good. The deputy mayor will conclude the debate Guido Montanari, with No soil, no food: urban planning and "food" sustainability in territorial governance. And the commissioner Marco Giusta, with The shared administration agreements and the Turin common assets that facilitate access to food. On this occasion, the first projects to support the quality of food production as an element of social cohesion will be illustrated in more detail. The Festival of Food Journalism also participates in Superfestival, the exhibition dedicated to Italian cultural festivals, included in the Book Fair where 67 Italian cultural festivals will be present.
