Masters in Journalism, registration is open for the next two years

Il Master in Journalism from the University of Turin, named after Giorgio Bocca, was a partner in the first edition of Festival of Food Journalism. And the young second-year students wrote Futura (here the link to the site), articles and in-depth information on the panels in the program. In addition to collaborating directly in support of the Festival staff. Now their university adventure has just ended, but for the Master it is already time to think about new future journalists to train. And so it has just been published the tender for the next two years, 2016 / 2018.

Until August 30th it is possible to apply for admission by connecting to the Corep website (here the link). Lessons will start next November. All students who have not passed the 35 years of age, who already have a three-year degree or the graduates of all the Faculties, can apply. There are twenty seats available. The selection will be based on an analysis of the curriculum vitae and qualifications, followed by written and oral tests. The cost is 18 thousand euros for the two years. 12 scholarships are planned of the value of 6.000 euro each.

There are many new features: it will be the head of the master's program Anna Masera, editor-in-chief journalist and public editor of the newspaper The print, while the scientific director will be the teacher Franca Roncarolo, journalism and communication scholar, currently director of the Department of Culture, Politics and Society at the University of Turin.

The Turin Masters, now in its seventh edition, is one of the 11 Italian schools recognized by the National Order of Journalists: this means that the two-year period replaces the two-year period of apprenticeship required by law to take the state exam and obtain the professional title.

The program (88 university training credits) provides, in the two-year period, 300 hours of frontal teaching, 1.700 hours of journalistic laboratories, 5 months of internship (2 in the first year, 3 in the second), a final test.

But here are some data on the real job opportunities that the Master offers: out of the total 100 students of the first two-year 5, the 62% works today at a publishing company or a press office with various types of contracts; the 23% works as a freelance journalist; while the 15% carries out activities other than journalism.
