The Board of Directors of the Campus Bio-Medico University of Rome, scientific partner of the Food Journalism Festival, has deliberated the appointment, from 1 November 2022, of Prof. Eugenio Guglielmelli as new Rector of the University. The current Rector, Prof. Raffaele Calabrò, will remain in office until the end of his mandate on 31 October 2022. In the coming months, prof. Guglielmelli, currently pro-rector for research at the Campus Bio-Medico University of Rome, will work with prof. Calabrò with a view to finalizing the important projects in progress and starting new development initiatives.
Eugenio Guglielmelli, born in 1965, has a degree in electronic engineering. Since 2004 he has been teaching at the Departmental Faculty of Engineering of the Campus Bio-Medico University of Rome and since 2010 he has been full professor of Industrial Bioengineering. From 2021 he was designated by the Ministry of University and Research (MUR) as the national representative of Italy in the Horizon Europe - Cluster Health Program Committee and from April 2022 a member of the Italian delegation of the G7 - Science working group. Since July 2021 he has been the Scientific Director of the IRCCS Don Carlo Gnocchi Onlus Foundation, an organization with which the University is increasingly consolidating strategic collaborations on topics of common interest.
His main research interests concern the theoretical and methodological aspects of bioengineering, robotics and intelligent machines, with particular reference to the field of mechatronic and robotic technologies for rehabilitation and assistance to the disabled and the elderly, neuro-robotics. , bionics and biorobotics. He is the author of over 430 scientific publications that have appeared in journals, books and international conference proceedings on the topics of bioengineering and biomedical robotics.
