Turin, Unesco master on food sustainability, registration is still open

Torino, master Unesco sulla sostenibilità alimentare, ancora aperte le iscrizioni

Two more weeks for enrollment in the Master first level in "Social and environmental sustainability of agri-food networks (MaSRA)" of the University of Turin. The inscriptions 13 November closes. The Master will be a partner of the 2018 Festival. It is managed by Unesco Chair in sustainable development and land management.

It serves to increase the understanding of the agri-food supply chains by studying the environmental, social, economic and cultural factors that need professionals who know how to interpret them in their complexity. "A better understanding of these aspects and their interaction - explains the director of MaSRA, Cristiana Peano, professor at the Department of Agricultural, Forest and Environmental Sciences - is essential for the agri-food supply chains and offers a new possibility of professional outlet for figures who normally they study these aspects in a more sectorial way ". The program has an inter and multidisciplinary slant and provides for ample space to be given to visits to the company and meetings with professionals in the sector. MaSRA makes extensive use of forms of active learning such as workshops, case discussions, exercises and working groups. Students are therefore stimulated to develop self-entrepreneurial skills and specific skills inherent in participatory planning and the use of sustainability indicators. The acquisition of this knowledge and skills is of fundamental importance for public and private operators and for all those who want to operate in the sector of small and medium-sized enterprises, in producer associations, consortia and, above all, in the creation of micro-enterprises aimed at creating sustainable agri-food supply chains and for rural development interventions, also from a landscape perspective. The training course, lasting one year, ends with a curricular internship in a company, in Italy or abroad, to verify the concepts learned in the classroom and to refine and contextualize the methodologies useful for the profession.
