The Festival guarantees nine training credits for journalists

Il Festival garantisce nove crediti formativi per i giornalisti
Il Festival offers nine credits for continuing education of journalists, that is three fifths of the minimum annual credits on one occasion. And, as is customary for Piedmont, too at the Festival the training events are completely free.
There are two training moments.
Thursday 22 February, from 15 to 19, the organized seminar takes place in collaboration with Stampa Subalpina"Freelance, food blogger, brand journalist or unforeseen and probabilities in the 4.0 information age ".

Here, in three specific panels, the confrontation opens up on the now more widespread condition of Italian journalism, particularly in the one that talks about food: that of the freelancer who "sells" his pieces to the web, paper, radio and TV without the headlines. be employed by any publisher. A way of working that has always existed but which has now taken over the contracted, secure, stable, permanent contract with all the guarantees it offered thanks to years of union mobilization. A condition, that of the freelancer, which for many 30-40enni is the only one ever known but still struggling to be protected.
Friday 23 February, from 14 to 19 instead, the seminar is held in collaboration with theOrder of Journalists of Piedmont: "Contributions to a conscious and responsible food journalism". Here there are five panels that talk about food journalism trends, new opportunities but also new risks for ethics in a world of work where precariousness makes journalists increasingly looking for engagements, as well as in publishing companies, too in communication offices or directly to the service of companies. A theme that also involves the review activity and those of the guides written by journalists but also by bloggers or other figures who are not yet included in the journalistic family.

The two seminars of the Festival will thus be among the first training events of the new three-year period of “fulfillment of the compulsory education”, the one from the 2018 to the 2021. Although, the three-year period would actually have started last year. But the extension to March of the acquisition of the credits for the previous three-year period (2014-2017) has started the new three-year period for advanced 2017, setting the "real" beginning in January 2018. of the 137, continuing education is an obligation of all professions regulated by registers. For journalists, mandatory training is regulated by the regulation for continuing education of the Order of Journalists of May 2016 http://www.odg.it/files/2016.05.31_B.U.%20n.%2010.pdfAs is known, the three-year credits must be 60, not one less, nor one more. Of these, at least 15 must be achieved each year. It is not possible to accumulate credits in just one or two years: they must, in fact, be spread in a minimum of 15 per year to ensure that training is effectively continuous. In the same way it is not possible to report any surplus credits in the following three-year period. The question on which is debated is whether the Order will open proceedings against journalists who, after three years of expiry, are not in possession of the required credits. It is known that out of around 108 thousand journalists registered in the Order in around 18 thousand do not even have a credit or have not even registered for the Sigef platform managed by the Order for online enrollment in the courses. Many journalists also have insufficient credits. It could draw attention to the thinning out of the regional registers we have been talking about for a long time. It will be up to regional orders to examine cases and impose sanctions through the disciplinary councils. And if the past three years is a done thing, you can put yourself in order at least for what starts now, focusing on the understanding of your regional discipline council.
