The Turin Chamber of Commerce, partner of the Food Journalism Festival, participates in the 12th edition of the World Chambers Congress, the World Congress of Chambers of Commerce, which opens tomorrow in Dubai until 25 November.
The Emirates are a country that appreciates Piedmontese food, especially if it is Halal certified.
The Turin Chamber of Commerce has been active for years in the United Arab Emirates and in the Gulf area. In 2020, an agreement was signed with the Halal Trade and Marketing Center of DUBAI (HTMC), an Emirati organization specialized in training and commercial matching to facilitate companies' access to the opportunities offered by the international Halal market in the food & beverage, cosmetics, fashion and design.
From this agreement, the "Turin-United Arab Emirates" project was born in 2021, aimed at accompanying companies in the food & beverage and cosmetics sectors in accessing the Emirati large-scale retail trade market: the initiative, consisting of an information path, training and commercial meetings, provides for the development of sales both via e-commerce and on-site.
Furthermore, the Turin Chamber of Commerce also provides Turin companies with specific information services dedicated to the markets of the MENA (Middle East and North Africa) area: both in the context of the Wordpass internationalization desk with a focus on import -export and Halal certification,
The theme of the event will be "Generation Next: Chambers 4.0", dedicated to the transformations that are revolutionizing commerce and global business: the event represents a moment of comparison and benchmarking between Chambers of Commerce around the world, to outline which services they can be offered to local businesses to face changes, seize opportunities and remain competitive.
In this context, the Turin Chamber of Commerce participates in the event with a delegation led by President Dario Gallina, former member of the Board of the Executive Council of ICC WCF (International Chamber of Commerce - World Chambers Federation). An exhibition space will also be provided within the congress fair area, a basis for institutional meetings and presentations in the Turin and Piedmont area.
"We are going to Dubai to develop a network of contacts for the benefit of our companies: in 2020 the Piedmont-United Arab Emirates trade reached, despite the pandemic, 224,3 million euros, with a trade balance clearly in our favor - he explains Dario Gallina, President of the Turin Chamber of Commerce. - In these days we therefore want to consolidate the existing relationships, thanks to the wide international network guaranteed by the Chambers of Commerce around the world. We will renew collaboration agreements with Emirati institutional partners, such as the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce - and we will sign new agreements with prestigious entities such as DAFZA (the Dubai Airport Free Zone), to facilitate the access of Turin companies not only to the UAE market, but to the 'entire area of the Gulf countries of which the Emirates represent the major logistics hub ”.
In 2020 Piedmont exported 211,2 million euros to the United Arab Emirates with a decrease of 19,2% compared to 2019 which closed with 261,3 million euros. In the first six months of 2021, Piedmont has already exported for 123,6 million euros, a clear increase compared to the same period of 2020 which closed with 102,1 million.
97,9% of Piedmont's exports are made up of products from manufacturing activities where food products account for 22,1%, the second sector after machinery (22,3%); followed by textiles and clothing (15%), chemical products (7,6%) and means of transport (6,2%).
Piedmont is the 5th Italian region for exports to the United Arab Emirates and we account for 5,3% of national exports.
