The Royal Road of the Turin Wines, a journey to discover the hidden Piedmont

For the past eight years in Piedmont there is a new road, a path that winds through history, culture and vineyards. And the "Royal Road of the Turin Wines”, A project born in the 2008 thanks to a tender from the Region for the promotion of the territory. The association immediately gathered many supporters, joining 150 members among wine producers, private tour operators and food and wine, public bodies, consortia and collective organizations.

The group will be present with its products at the Food Journalism Festival and will involve some journalists on a press tour to discover the area and its culinary excellence.

The association has been leading for about a year Patrizia Ferrarini, hotel manager, who took the place of the wine producer Franco Balbiano: «We wanted to make a change of representation at the top - said - But my predecessor was fundamental to the Road. We are a group of volunteers and it is the passion that keeps us going, because we believe in enhancing the territory ».

The Royal Road of Turin Wines was born, in fact, with the aim of discovering the wine productions of a less known part of Piedmont. A lot has already been done to improve the knowledge of the cellars: "Now we want to continue on that path, working more on the tourism offer" explains Ferrarini.

For this reason last summer the association launched the new product "Destinations”, A series of packages ranging from simple tasting to a complete stay «It is a way to convey the project and increase the presence of tourists. We created the proposals involving only the members, in a "craft" way, working only with the members of the association. It is something of which we are very proud and a beautiful product was born. Inside each package there is a key with all the information on our reality: an original way to make or make a nice gift and to understand what the Royal Road of Turin Wines is».

For a project to enhance and discover the wines and lesser-known destinations of Piedmont, communication is important: «It seemed interesting to work with journalists on the occasion of the Festival of Food Journalism - explains Ferrarini - Ours is a different area, made up of niches, small extraordinary productions to bring to the attention of the public. Our producers are not large, but there is high quality and we want to let you know».

The Strada Reale dei Vini Torinesi will also offer an aperitif on Thursday evening at the end of the first day.
