Water as a fundamental resource: Smat

Smat, a water service company operating in the metropolitan city of Turin, participates in the Festival of Food Journalism as a main partner. A further important step in the search for correct information on topics such as treatment processes, which make drinking water for human use and which allow its return to the environment, up to the characteristics of the network water, which makes every user a responsible consumer

With this in mind, Smat carries out good practices in the area of environmental sustainability, as the Water Point, the house that distributes water at km 0 and helps to reduce waste. In the 2016, the 149 Acqua Smat Points have delivered more than 37 million liters of water, saving over 24 million plastic bottles of one and a half liters and overall savings for families of around 5 million.

Added to this project are the awareness campaigns carried out to encourage a responsible use of this resource, including the replacement, in agreement with the Municipality of Turin and other administrations, of bottled water with tap water in many school canteens .

On these issues will focus the panel scheduled for Thursday 23 February at 12 from the title Drink at zero kilometers, which will involve, among others, Paolo Romano, Chairman of the Water Commission of Utilitalia and CEO of Smat.
