Pact between the Region is UniPO for Piedmontese agriculture

Launch of the collaboration between UPOtra, University of Eastern Piedmont Amedeo Avogadro and the Piedmont Region, Department of Agriculture to promote and support scientific and research activities in the agricultural and food sector, and the study of cultural systems in rural Piedmont.

The agreement, which was signed on May 7 in Turin, in the Piedmont Region Building, by the rector Gian Carlo Avanzi and by the Piedmont Regional Councilor for Agriculture, has a two-year duration.
The objectives are: to implement the patrimony of scientific and technological knowledge through research, teaching and training activities for university students; development of technological innovation projects to the advantage of the agri-food sector of eastern Piedmont and for environmental protection of the territory; the study of agricultural landscapes, agricultural traditions, traditional knowledge linked specifically to the rural territory typical of rice fields, which mainly characterize
The first action of scientific cooperation between Upo and Region will concern the collection of data and the study of traditional oral knowledge typical of the Piedmontese rice communities, in order to consolidate the heritage of the typical culture of the "Lands of water" of Piedmont.
The Councilor for Agriculture of the Piedmont Region underlines the importance of collaboration also aimed at the enhancement and preservation of the Piedmontese cultural and historical heritage of the rice fields, useful also in the perspective of a future presentation of the candidature file of the "rice lands" of the Piedmont with Unesco heritage.
