Turin meets the food of Peru: the Festival host and partner of the meeting

Torino incontra il cibo del Perù: il Festival ospite e partner dell'incontro

A journey through the geographies of food, which will unite Turin with Peru, with the aim of promoting a more equitable and sustainable local food system. It is the idea behind the meeting scheduled for next Friday, 14 July, which will see Massimiliano Borgia, director of the Festival of Food Journalism, in the role of moderator. The event, which will take place at 16.30 at Palazzo Cisterna in Turin, in via Maria Vittoria 12, will be sponsored by the Metropolitan City of Turin, by the Consulate General of Peru in Turin, by Coldiretti, by Festival of Food Journalism, from Slow Food and EsPerTo.

To organize it are Agape, Peruvian gastronomic association, e Rimisp, Latin American center for rural development. The context is that of the European project Food Smart Cities for Development. On this occasion they will meet public institutions, private and territorial associations that deal with food, migrant communities and territorial development. The target? Promote a moment of dialogue and debate between key players in the territorial system on the issue of the food needs of new citizens in order to explore potential synergies and innovative forms of articulation between ethnic catering and the social and economic-productive fabric. It will also be an important opportunity to experiment with a form of direct collaboration between Peruvian restaurateurs and local farms. With the support of Coldiretti, a culinary tasting will be held promoted by some Peruvian restaurants in Turin, which will allow you to taste traditional recipes from various regions of Peru prepared using some emblematic products of local Piedmontese agriculture. At the same time, space will be given to promoting Peruvian culture through the performance of the Academy de Marinera Hermanos Los Ramos and the singer Chessy Jammilo, and through the exhibition of the book The cinnamon flower. Taste, aromas, flavors and colors of Peruvian cuisine, written by Gloria Carpinelli D'Onofrio. Moderates as told by Massimiliano Borgia, the Regional Councilor for immigration policies will intervene, Monica Cerutti, the person responsible for the international cooperation and peace activities of the City of Turin, Maria Bottiglieri, and Abderrahmane Amajou, responsible for the Slow Food migrant thematic area. Afterwards, it will be up to Amora Carbajal, Economic and Commercial Office of Peru in Milan, Fulvio Griffa, director of the Italian Federation of Public and Tourist Traders (Fiepet / Confesercenti) ed Elena Di Bella, manager of the rural mountain development service and promotion of typical productions of the Metropolitan City of Turin.
