In Chieri (TO), the San Martino Fair returns, with the Festival of Food Journalism

A Chieri (TO), torna la Fiera di San Martino, con il Festival del Giornalismo Alimentare

Conference on local food policies on Saturday 11 in Chieri, near Turin, as part of the San Martino 2017 Fair, in an area particularly suited to quality agricultural production. That of local food policies is a theme dear to the Festival, a topic that we want to develop further, always from the point of view of improving communication with citizens.

To moderate the conference "Land that makes culture, an analysis of our territory to design a new development model", it will be there Festival director, Massimiliano Borgia. The works take place starting from 10 in the municipal council hall in the 10 Town Hall. At the center of the conference is the analysis of the potential of a territory that is at the center of a new development pact, the Territorial Identity Pact, signed by the municipalities of the East and South of Turin. An area that has a strong industrial vocation (from the textile of Chieri, to the many companies of the Poirino plateau, to the Martini di Pessione to the companies of Carmagnola) but which also represents one of the most important agricultural areas of north-western Italy. In particular, two research projects will be presented on the potential in the agri-food sector of what, after all, is a cross-section of many other Italian territories in search of new productive functions even in ancient sectors such as food supply chains. The first of the research is that of Ires, the institute for statistical and social studies in Piedmont, a study presented by Giovanna Perino ed Enrico Gottero on the municipalities of Territorial identity pact, a study that focuses on the potential for innovation in the rediscovery of its agricultural vocations. The other work is presented by Federica Larcher, Paola Gullino and Luca Battisti of the Department of Agricultural, Forestry and Food Sciences of the University of Turin. The study written in collaboration with Coldiretti, analyzes the potential of Chieri agricultural production. Egidio Dansero and Giacomo Pettenati of the Department of culture, politics and society of the University of Turin, will talk about the developments of the project Atlas of Food of metropolitan Turin, which photographs the Turin metropolitan area by analyzing the offers and shortcomings in satisfying the citizens' right to quality food. The commissioner for Chieri production activities will close the meeting Marina Zopegni that will dialogue with the regional councilor for agriculture Giorgio Ferrero, on the relationship between spontaneous aggregations of municipalities and regional policies in the agri-food sector. To introduce, the mayor of Chieri Claudio Martano. Afterwards, you can visit the traditional Fiera di San Martino through the medieval streets and corners of the city.
