From 6 October to November 25 will take place "between Earth and Moon", the 88ª International White Truffle Fair of Alba.
The Fair Authority and the Truffle Center are partners of the Food Journalism Festival for educational aspects.
The search for truffles is a practice founded on very concrete bases composed of natural clues, but also on intangible and unprovable events, such as the Moon, a fundamental element of the search path: among useful information to determine when and where to find truffles, the Moon phases mark a precise time.
The White Truffle Fair in Alba renews the mystery and charm of the Tuber magnatum Pico, which only in these areas has become the symbol of a heritage of collective experiences that combines catering, hospitality and the authentic Italian way of life. With over 600 thousand averages in the last editions, the fair is the highlight for excellent food and wine tourism, among the main tourist attractions for the Langhe, Roero and Monferrato area.
Like every year, exhibitions, show cooking, folklore, street events and experiential itineraries enrich the 8 weeks dedicated to Langhe gold. The fulcrum of the Fair is the Alba White Truffle World Market, open every Saturday and Sunday (plus the extraordinary 1 and 2 November openings) with the Alba Truffle Show, the space dedicated to Show Cooking, the Sensory Analysis of the Tartufo, the Wine Tasting Experience®. The combination of high gastronomy and culture is again central with great exhibitions, ranging from contemporary to modern art, design projects, but also concerts and literary events: the great solo exhibition by Valerio Berruti which tells "La Storia di Nina" with the soundtrack by Ludovico Einaudi, the designer Patricia Urquiola, who created the glove for the white truffle of Alba, the Lynn Davis exhibitions, Patti Smith: a collaboration "in the Coro della Maddalena by the Ceretto family and the great collective" From nothing to dream. Dada and Surrealism from the Collection of the Boijmans Van Beuningen Museum ”at the Ferrero Foundation, up to the letters with António Lobo Antunes, who will hold a Lectio magistralis waiting to collect the Bottari Lattes Grinzane 2018 Award (La Quercia section).
There is also social commitment: the proceeds from the exclusive Ultimate Truffle Dinner (the 25 October and the 22 November) in which unusual combinations of the White Alba Truffle with unique elements of international cuisine are offered, such as oysters and Kobe beef , and the World White Truffle Auction of Alba, which this year reaches the 19th edition (Sunday 11 November), will be donated to charity.
