Barilla Foundation scientific partner of the Festival

Fondazione Barilla partner scientifico del Festival
Promote quality journalism in the field of food and environmental sustainability. It is with this objective that the Barilla Foundation confirms itself this year as a scientific partner of the Festival of Food Journalism.

In fact, journalists have the opportunity to shed light on the paradoxes of our food system and to make consumers aware of making more informed and sustainable choices. They can also contribute to the deepening of particularly current issues.

The Barilla Center for Food and Nutrition Foundation is a multidisciplinary and independent center of thought that works on food sustainability. Through the study of current agro-food systems, it promotes a healthier and more sustainable lifestyle, in line with the achievement of the goals set by the United Nations 2030 Agenda (SDGs). Furthermore, it provides recommendations to decision makers thanks to multiple public initiatives and dialogues with stakeholders providing multidisciplinary studies related to food.

On the occasion of the fourth edition of the Food Journalism Festival of Turin, the Barilla Foundation will be present in two moments with its experts and partners to talk about the central role of the media: Thursday, 21 February 2018, at 16.10, with “Food and migration. Migrants run away for food and food can get closer to the new cultures that welcome them ”; Friday, 22 February, at 17.10, with "Eating well and helping the planet? You can. Sustainable nutrition to reduce co2 emissions and the water footprint ". The first panel will show how food is not only the cause of many migratory flows, but also the opportunity for possible integration. The protagonist will be Lucio Caracciolo, president of MacroGeo. Among the participants: Italo Rizzi, Director of LVIA - International Association of Lay Volunteers and Abderrahmane Amajou of Slow Food. Alessandra Muglia of the Corriere della Sera will be the moderator. The second panel will present SU-EATABLE Life, the project created to involve European citizens in a process of changing eating habits, with the aim of reducing the environmental impact. He presents the project for the Barilla Simona Castaldi Foundation of the University of Campania "Luigi Vanvitelli" and Project Research Manager of SU - EATABLE Life. Among the participants: Alessandro Galli of Global Footprint Network and Gabriele Beccaro of the University of Turin. Moderator: Marco Fratoddi of the Italian Environmental Media Federation.
