Gavinelli, EU: "From December the new regulation on food controls"

The 18 December 2019 will enter into force the 625 regulation of 2017 "relating to official controls and other official activities carried out to guarantee the application of the legislation on food and feed, the rules on health and animal welfare, on plant health as well as on plant protection products "which will unite all EU states. This was announced by Andrea Gavinelli of the European Commission's Directorate-General for Food Safety, closing the panel on "E-commerce and food, the new way of shopping" at the latest edition of the Festival of Food Journalism. "In the last 5 years there has been an exponential increase in commercial operations on the internet. Every Italian spends on average 800 euros a year online. But not only the purchases must be protected; continuous growth, which exports among the most sophisticated and expensive foods ever in the world ". The new regulation will allow the supervisory bodies to purchase anonymously on all European markets. The authorities will be able to act in a coordinated manner to stop and seize products on a European scale. "It is necessary to trace the economic transactions of the goods purchased online in order to defeat illegal actions," continues Gavinelli. "This can happen if we act in a harmonized and clear manner. Thanks to this transparency operation, large nations such as Canada, China and the United States have already developed forms of cooperation with the European community ".
