La National Federation of Medical Orders will be scientific partner of the sixth edition of the Food Journalism Festival. With the National Order of Doctors, the Festival wants to bring to journalists the issues of health and the organization of the health system after the pandemic, starting naturally from nutrition.
A bit like the Order of Journalists, the orders of doctors are also organized on a local basis (in this case, provincial) and are then represented at the national level.
Law no. 3/18 specifies that the national federation is a non-economic public body that acts as a subsidiary body of the state in order to protect the public interests guaranteed by the legal system connected with professional practice. The Fnomceo has tasks of direction and coordination and administrative support to the territorial orders.
The National Council is currently chaired by Philip Rings, president of the Order of doctors of Bari and is composed of 106 medical presidents of the orders of surgeons and represents the Assembly of orders.
The Central Committee is the deliberative institutional body elected by the National Council and is made up of 13 registered in the register of surgeons and 4 registered in the register of dentists.
Disciplinary competence belongs by reason of the Register to the Commission for those enrolled in the medical register and to the Commission for those enrolled in the register of dentists. As is well known, in fact, the exercise of the medical and dental profession is subject to registration in the Register of doctors or dentists held in the territorial orders. The orders are responsible for keeping the Professional Register of Surgeons and the Register of Dentists, which requires verification, at the time of registration, of the possession by the health professional of the qualifications and requirements necessary for the exercise of the profession By law. The aim is also to combat the abusive exercise of the medical and dental profession by protecting the health of citizens. Fnomceo is responsible for preparing, updating and publishing the single national registers of members, exercising disciplinary power over the members of the Governing Councils of the territorial Orders and the Register Commissions as well as the orders have disciplinary power over their members.
It is also the responsibility of the National Federation to approve the Code of Medical Deontology. The disciplinary offense derives from the non-observance or violation of the Code, which is assessed by the respective disciplinary bodies. The Code of medical deontology identifies the rules, inspired by the principles of medical ethics, which govern the professional practice of the surgeon and dentist enrolled in their respective professional registers and commits the healthcare professional to the protection of individual and collective health by monitoring the dignity, independence and the quality of the profession.
