President Nestlé: Quality at the center of the food industry

Presidente Nestlé: La qualità al centro dell’industria alimentare

Peter Brabeck-Letmathe, honorary president of Nestlé International and author of the book "Nutrition for a better life" met with the management and employees of Inalpi in the Moretta (CN) plant.

Publication strongly desired by the company of Moretta, which is a partner for the realization, was the focus of the meeting. Peter Brabeck-Letmathe answered the questions of those present, which concerned very topical subjects, such as exports, opening up to the new Chinese market, current approaches to milk consumption, the importance of packaging and Bio products, also touching on social issues such as the change of the female figure in the world of work and as a final consumer.

The cross section defined by Peter Brabeck-Letmathe is that of a market with sudden changes where exports will become increasingly important, albeit conditioned by the policy and the consequent rules applied in the various countries. He also stressed the importance of media and social communication, which, increasingly, is destined to condition consumers, so it is important to produce a truthful and scientifically based communication.

However, Peter Brabeck-Letmathe has repeatedly stressed that the objective of product quality should remain the sole cornerstone of the food industry. Even the packaging is influenced by fashions and political messages, so quality is the only element that differentiates and exceeds any interest, even the final price.

The topic concerning the female figure was addressed by the Honorary President of Nestlé International, with great acumen, not focusing on gender differences, but focusing on opportunities, which must be accessible and equal for all.

Instead, the system applied by Inalpi for the payment of milk aroused the interest of Peter Brabeck-Letmathe. The algorithm studied in collaboration with the University of Piacenza, which regulates relationships within the short and controlled supply chain of Piedmontese milk, has been judged as "very intelligent and unique, a real tool for eliminating conflicts between suppliers and industry".

In the afternoon, again at the Inalpi plant, a meeting of the FAM Advisory Council was held, of the San Telmo Business School, which includes Inalpi together with many national and international industries.

The San Telmo Business School, based in Spain, is among the top three business schools of specialization in the food sector, a center of excellence for senior management. The institute, aware of the challenges that companies and public and private institutions have to face, helps to develop the managerial skills of the participants in its programs.

The purpose of the meeting was to take stock of the current situation of the Council and the activities of the 2019 purpose and the beginning of 2020, in anticipation of the Milan Food Forum of 2020.
