First two days of the Festival, over a thousand in Turin meets

The works of the IV edition of the Food Journalism Festival that took place in Turin Incontra, the Congress Center of the Chamber of Commerce of Turin in via Nino Costa 22 ended today.


Over a thousand entries on the two days of Thursday and Friday 21 and 22 February, with the participation not only of journalists and food professionals, but also of the general public, now increasingly attentive and eager to enter the debate that revolves around the food.
"The balance is decidedly positive - declares Massimiliano Borgia, director of the Festival -" and the high turnout of participants, coming not only from Piedmont and from all over Italy but also from abroad (over the 40% of members is extra territory), confirms the role of Turin as the capital of the cultural debate on food. The subalpine capital is certainly the right place to hold a festival that deals with satisfying citizens' right to correct information on the subject of food ".
Tomorrow Saturday 23 February, the Festival will leave the halls of the Congress Center to reach the areas of Alba and Langhe, through a series of press tours dedicated to journalists and foodbloggers. Through 6 educational distributed between the provinces of Turin and Cuneo the participants will be guided to discover the culinary excellence of Piedmont.

On the second day of Friday, 22 February Vito Crimi, Undersecretary to the Presidency of the Council of Ministers with responsibility for publishing, hosted by the panel dedicated to the future of journalism, announced the forthcoming opening of the States General of Information: "In the future there will be journalists even outside the Order. We do not abolish the Order but will not be exclusive the belonging to the Order to make information in Italy. By the end of March we will be starting with the General Information States will face the whole information system ", said Carlo Verna, President of the National Council of Journalists, during the discussion table.

The discussion sessions were joined by practical workshops and B2B appointments, the two important new features of this 2019 edition. The laboratories, which started experimental in the 2018, have been upgraded this year and have actually entered the Festival format. About 200 the members of the 10 laboratories have had the opportunity to experiment practices and acquire useful knowledge for those who write about food or work in the food sector.

The B2B meetings were organized thanks to the support of the Turin Chamber of Commerce which involved its Masters of Taste and the Turin DOC wine producers. “The Festival wanted to offer this space of knowledge and relationships absolutely free of charge for the members of the project, without getting any compensation. - comments Borgia - An additional service for freelance journalists bloggers who participated in the 21 and 22 February days ”.

The Food Journalism Festival was organized with the contribution of Compagnia di San Paolo, Turin Chamber of Commerce and CRT Foundation.
