The Piedmont Region, partner of the Festival, strongly wanted, in Turin, the 2018 edition of the European final of the Bocuse d'Or, the Chef competition created by Paul Bocuse. 
Thus, a few months after the death of the founder, the French chef, Paul Bocuse, For the first time in history of the "Olympics of Gastronomy", the traveling event Bocuse d'Or Europe will take place in Italy.

It never happened that the Bocuse made a stop in Southern Europe.

Thus, after Norway, Switzerland, Belgium, Sweden and Hungary, it is the turn of Italy, in Piemonte, which will host the continental selection of the most prestigious world gastronomic competition: the Bocuse d'Orin fact.

The 11 and the 12 June, on the occasion of the Gourmet Expoforum, the Turin Lingotto Oval will host the excellence of global gastronomy. The 10 June, the Oval will also welcome the European selection of the Coupe du Monde de la Pâtisserie. Turin and Piedmont, famous for their wines and white truffles, the land of a sophisticated culinary heritage, are in fact the ideal place to welcome the best European chefs. For the talented competitors engaged in a fantastic adventure, the event is the last step before going to Lyon, France, for the Final which will take place in January 2019, during Sirha, the world fair of the catering and hotel industry business.

20 candidates to glory The most awaited continental selection of the Bocuse d'Or will take place after the continental selections of the Americas in Mexico and Asia-Pacific in Guangzhou. 20 European candidates will give their best to convince the jury, and the ten best teams will enter the final in Lyon in the 2019.

The order of passage was just officially decided by the draw, and is as follows: 11 June (1 Day) 12 June (2 Day) 1 Poland 1 Russia 2 Belgium 2 Sweden 3 Iceland 3 Croatia 4 Hungary 4 Finland 5 Germany 5 Norway 6 Netherlands 6 Denmark 7 Spain 7 Italy 8 France 8 Bulgaria 9 Switzerland 9 Estonia 10 United Kingdom 10 Turkey. Candidates will have two tests to demonstrate their skills: the first test consists in preparing 14 individual plates; in the second, the realization of a course, each candidate will prepare and set his own recipe on a large silver tray. At the end of each test, the jury will proceed to the tasting sessions.

To increase the level of the challenge and balance it, the competitors will have to use the same products in the dishes for both tests. Since the Bocuse d'Or Europa is proud to enhance the country and the region in which it takes place, the products of the competition will be original and typical of Piedmont.

While the products for the test of the dish remain secret for now, the products for the second test, the dish, have been revealed: beef fillet from Piedmont Fassone, Baraggia biellese and rice from Sant'Andrea Vercelli, veal sweetbreads.

From now on, competitors can start their training with these products supplied by the Consortiums Aspro Carne and Riso di Baraggia, with the support of the official supplier Metro. In addition to celebrating these famous Piedmontese products, each candidate will have to make a difference by adding the personal touch and regional tradition of their country of origin to their dishes. The 2018 edition of the competition will surely be crossed by emotion and memory, as each team and all members of the jury will have at heart more than ever excellence and creativity, in honor of the Chef of the Century and founder of the competition, Paul Bocuse.

This edition will also be marked by a new visual identity. For its 2018-2019 cycle, the Bocuse d'Or reaffirms its unique character with the introduction of a new visual identity designed to show the exclusive combination of excellence and innovation that has contributed to its strength and success. The famous portrait of Paul Bocuse appears in a modern graphic design of great impact that reflects the energy and creativity of the event. The legendary chef - founder of this important gastronomic competition - openly invites both chefs and the public to come and accompany him in the prestigious world of the Bocuse d'Or.
