The fourth edition of the Food Gionalismo Festival was presented this morning in Turin in the splendid setting of Palazzo Birago, Juvarrianano building, courtly seat of the Chamber of Commerce.
After Terra Madre - Festival of Taste, the Festival, scheduled in Turin on 21, 22 and 23 February at "Turin Meet", Congress Center of the Turin Chamber of Commerce, confirms the Piedmontese capital as the Italian capital of the cultural debate on food.

In the three days of the event seminars, round tables, practical workshops, b2b meetings, educational and off events will alternate. Experts from the world of journalism, representatives of public administrations, companies will be asked to contribute. food blogger, an influencer, food safety professionals, chefs, representatives of associations and press offices. The leitmotif of the debates will be to stimulate confrontation and reflection among the various protagonists of food communication even in the face of an increasingly attentive, participatory and prepared consumer audience.

THE PANEL PROGRAM

In the spotlight some of the hottest and most controversial issues of the moment like the alarm of the microplastics in what we drink and eat, the "fake news", I food crimes and e-commerce of food products, thanks also to the contribution of the Experimental Zooprophylactic Institute of Piedmont, Liguria and Valle d'Aosta and the intervention of the Chemical Laboratory of the Chamber of Commerce of Turin. Having recently concluded, with the 2018, the Year of Italian food in the world, there will also be the point in several panels on the promotion strategies of the Made in Italy: at international level. Among the interventions on the subject also those of Gian Marco Centinaio (Minister of Agricultural and Food Policies), Oscar Farinetti (founder of Eataly) e Giancarlo Caselli.  

Great attention will be paid, as always, to the health and education for proper nutrition, In presence of Vytenis Andriukaitis, European Commissioner for health and food safety and thanks to the contribution of Umberto Veronesi Foundation, of CRT Foundation (which presents for the first time two educational lines on food within the framework of its Diderot project for schools), of Compagnia di San Paolo as well as the vertices of the Ministry of Health.

Successful testimonials for the communication of food and wine tourism will come, among others, from the Piedmont region, From Chamber of Commerce of Turin and from the University of Bergamo.

The food will also be analyzed as possible integration factor for migrant populations, as "sustainable" choice for the environment and as a key determinant in the financial systems, through an interview with the professor Elsa Fornero. Even the vegan world he will question himself in an open confrontation between food critics and successful chefs like Peter Leemann e Simone Salvini, coordinated by the reference magazine Funny Vegan, while in-depth panels will be dedicated to the delicate topic of animal welfare, To gastronomic science and to fake news on one of the most popular products such as the fish, also thanks to the analysis of Eurofishmarket, the only technical-scientific magazine specialized in the fish industry.

Other meetings will be more closely linked to the professions of communication: from the strategic role of the gastronomic guides and magazines for a correct information to the correct and necessary relationships between press offices and the world of information, up to the multiple ways that different media have tell the food. The importance of share experiences will then be illustrated by some representatives of the "Food Journalism Festival Network ", from the European network EIT Food and from the Chef Cristina Bowerman, President of Ambassadors of Taste. Important voices will also come from the world of gods foodblogger, youtuber and instagrammers, through success stories and reflections on the relationship with its own public. Between these, Benedetta Rossi, at the top of the charts among food influencers, who will finish the works on Friday 22 February telling us about his "Foodblogger day".

Finally, great space will be reserved for aspects deontological journalism, with moments of professional reflection on precarious work, on the reforms necessary for the future of responsible and independent journalism and on the rules and pitfalls of digital food.

For the first time the Festival, in partnership with the Piedmont Region, the Zooprofilattico Institute and the European Commission, will deliver some awards to journalists who distinguished themselves during the year by telling about the food and wine excellences of the Piedmont area and in analyzing the themes on health food.

 

WORKSHOPS AND B2B

The discussion tables will be joined by the practical laboratories, this year even more numerous than in the past edition to respond to the growing interest of the Festival's audience who are asking for more training for their work. Thanks to the collaboration with the Chemical Laboratory of the Chamber of Commerce of Turin, the Zooprophylactic Institute of Piedmont Liguria and Valle d'Aosta, INALPI, Consortium for the Protection of Mozzarella di Bufala Campana PDO, Centrale del Latte di Torino, Eurofishmarket, Skretting, Assoittica e FoodLab, participants will be able to experiment with practices and gain useful knowledge for food writers.

The meeting of the meetings is also strengthened B2B, during which companies and professionals can meet and discuss, thanks to the support of Chamber of Commerce of Turin that will involve his own Masters of Taste and branded wine producers Turin DOC. In a Festival where the reflection on the professions of communication in the food sector is crucial, the moment B2B represents the right completion of a format based on comparison and an important opportunity for i freelance colleagues to relate to companies that need to promote themselves.

 

 

OFF AND PRESS TOUR EVENTS

As in the previous editions, at the end of the first two days of work (Thursday 21 and Friday 22 February) the discussion will continue outside the Congress Center, through a series of events off reserved for journalists and bloggers: an opportunity to discover curiosities and news related to the Turin food and wine scene and a moment of relaxation and conviviality.  

Thursday 21, starting from the 19, at the headquarters of theChefs Association Turin it will be possible to take part in an aperitif dedicated to Divine Gustar, to taste typical food and wine products in the presence of the producers.

At the 19 and 30, however, the Turin Chamber of Commerce invites to "Palazzo" for an aperitif offered by Masters of Taste and wine producers Turin DOC at the magnificent Palazzo Birago and dedicated to "Turin Capital of taste". Across the Fil rouge of innovation you will discover old and new successful products: among these the first Italian sake in the world, made with the Vercelli Venetian rice and which will be presented as a world premiere Turin - Shanghai during the evening.

Friday 22, at 19 and 30 at the Istituto Alberghiero Beccari le "recipes of dialogue " they will put the hands in dough to the participants through an original workshop dedicated to some African specialties, including culture, integration and food and wine.

At 20 the Esperia Restaurant organizes an evening dedicated to "Leonardo's table: a genius in the kitchen". To guide the diners between aperitif and dinner will be the journalist and etiquette expert, Barbara Ronchi della Rocca with the food and wine journalist Claudio Porchia in the format signed by More News Group.

Saturday day 23 February will be dedicated to educational trips in the area. You can visit the lively district of San Salvario of Turin with the Bogianen Guides, browsing through the shops of Masters of Taste of Turin and province and the Via Madama Cristina street market. You can go to Caluso, at the historic winery Carlo Gnavi e the Regional Wine Cellar of the province of Turin, where you can taste the excellence of the wines Turin DOC selected by the Turin Chamber of Commerce, such as the Caluso Passito DOCG, on a tour that will end at lunch at the brand new Coop Botticelli Superstore. The coffee Costadoro and the fresh pasta of the Pastificio Muzzarelli from Bologna instead, they will be protagonists of a path of excellence that will end with a creative laboratory at the cooking school Cookin Factory. The charming city ​​of Alba will be a prestigious venue for a tour to discover food and wine riches, cultural excellences and underground treasures. Instead the press tour organized by the dairy company will land in the Cuneo area Inalpi: guests of the new Ateliereale, the bakery boutique of the Michelin-star Chef 2 Gian Piero Vivalda, journalists will experiment with a pastry shop that will end with a pleasant starred aperitif.

A walk in the historic and suggestive spring water plant SMAT in Sangano, open exclusively for the Festival, will be the "starter" on a tour that will end at lunch at the brand new Coop Botticelli Superstore.

To bring together the different professions interested in food communication on Festival of Food Journalism will be inserted between those valid for i formative credits of journalists and scientific and health professions. To welcome all the participants, the Festival can count on the support of the students of the institutions Hoteliers Maggia of Stresa (VB) and Beccari of Turin. The 21 February Thursday lunch will be offered byTurin Chefs Association in collaboration with Inalpi. Bread and breadsticks will be kindly offered byTurin Bakers Association. The 22 February Friday lunch will be set up and offered by the course of "Kitchen Collaborator" managed by Inforcoop Lega Piemonte at the Penal Institute for Minors "Ferrante Aporti" of Turin, in collaboration with Agape Association by chef Roxana Rondan. Water for the two lunches will be offered by Smat and coffee for breaks from Costadoro, that on Friday 22 will host the Beluffi brothers, Matteo Italian milk art champion in the 2017 and 6 ° in the world ranking and Dario, Vegan Pastrychef, ready to amaze with "live" preparations.
