The labeling portal of the Turin Chamber of Commerce is born to help small food companies to correctly label the packaging.
The portal was born from the experience gained through the Food Labeling and Safety Desk, a first orientation service born in 2009 in Turin and Piedmont and currently active in more than 60 Italian provinces. The constant growth of the branch has revealed the need to offer operators in the sector an even more structured, usable, functional and more content digital support.
To access the Food Labeling Portal, companies operating in the agri-food sector must register, following which they can then access their reserved area to enter questions and take advantage of future features. The answers to the questions are entered directly on the Portal, so that companies can easily access and consult the history of the questions.
For companies registered on the Portal it is possible to use the "Create your label" feature which allows companies to practice creating their own labels using a predefined, but not pre-filled, template. In fact, the company must write the indications as required by the regulations, such as for example report the term "Ingredients" and pay attention to the "TMC / expiry date", the batch, the nutrition declaration. The facsimile of the created label can then be forwarded to the Labeling Desk to request a comment.
The company that requests a question or forwards a label to the Portal, if it resides in the territory where the Labeling and Food Safety Desk exists, can use the service according to the modalities provided by the body that joined the project.
The Portal is accessible to everyone, including consumers, to consult the information material available, in particular the "horizontal" regulatory labeling references, the product sheets of the territory relating to the Bodies that have joined the project and the FAQs with the answers so far drawn up on the basis of the experience of all the branches.
