In Cinemambiente Festival of Turin, now in its XNUM Xth edition, there is also a little Festival of Food Journalism. Our director, Massimiliano Borgia, will interview the directors who present two films.
The first is The empire of the rouge (The Empire of Red Gold), 2017, scheduled for Friday 1 June at 20.30 at the Cinema Massimo, 3 hall. This is the now famous investigation into the Chinese origin of tomato concentrate conceived and produced by the French Jean-Baptiste Malet who wrote an inquiry book on tomato produced in China, combined with brands italian sounding and sold in Africa. From this work, Malet himself has drawn a film-inquiry together with Xavier Delen. From Italy to China and Africa, following closely all the steps of one of the most profitable food industries, the background of a brutal and triumphant capitalism emerges in which exploitation, organized crime and environmental threat are closely linked.
The other film will be The milk system (The milk system), 2017, of Andreas Pichler, which is scheduled for Saturday 2 June at 21.30 at the Cinema Massimo, 3 hall.
Here, the investigative film deals with a product that once romantically regarded itself as natural and innocent and that has turned into a milk system, now interconnected worldwide. A survey where existing alternatives also emerge, thanks to interviews with farmers who practice sustainable farming.
Cinemambiente is also a partner of the Food Journalism Festival with which it organizes off-screen projections related to food and sustainability issues.
