Biomedical Campus produces the first graduates in food sciences

Campus biomedico sforna i primi laureati in scienze alimentari

The first master's degree graduates from course in Food Science and Technology and Supply Chain Management of the Campus Bio-Medico University of Rome, scientific partner of the Festival. They are ready to tackle issues of safety, quality e  innovation along the entire agri-food production chain also with a view to sustainability e of circular economy.

Their degree theses were born in universities and grown in the company: they analyzed extra virgin olive oil and "fifth range" products, they evaluated the characteristics of beer and studied how the increase in temperatures affects the yield of some types of rice.

"They are new professional figures - explained the president of the degree course Marco Santonico - with transversal skills in bioeconomy, legislation, food marketing and engineering, thanks to which they will be able to dialogue at three hundred and sixty degrees with different professional figures and enter fully into innovative roles in the agri-food sector ".

The baggage of transversal knowledge that the food technologist who graduated from the course brings with him Food Science and Technology and Supply Chain Management of the Campus Bio-Medico University of Rome is one of the strengths of a figure already in great demand by Italian agri-food companies. In the Roman university a complete manager profile is formed on the production, processing, distribution and marketing of foods capable of managing the product throughout the entire production chain.

"While Made in Italy agri-food takes on an ever greater weight in the national economy, figures such as those who have just left our university represent an additional guarantee element to support high levels of quality and innovation" - explains again Santonic.

Many of the students have carried out their thesis in agri-food industries, immediately experiencing the dynamics of the world of work and knowing the needs of entrepreneurs. One of the main benefits of the UCBM degree program is the ability for students to carry out internships in the company, as well as in affiliated institutions and research centers, has given them the opportunity to experiment and acquire the soft skills most requested by the labor market.
