Gian Carlo Caselli will talk about the mafia at the Festival

Gian Carlo Caselli parlerà di mafia al Festival

Mafia, organized crime and the food sector. We'll talk about it at Festival of Food Journalism, on Thursday morning 21 February. The panel will be titled "Let's take stock of food crimes", which will discuss how effective the tools we have to combat crimes that threaten our health and the most important economic sector of the country are effective.

Among the guests, we will have Gian Carlo Caselli, president of the Scientific Committee of the Observatory on Crime in Agriculture e Fabrizio Galliati, president of Coldiretti Torino.

The prosecutor Caselli is now a regular at the Festival, and his interventions have been among the most applauded in the past editions. His contribution has always given added value to the event. In the past his words have helped to shed light on a phenomenon, that of mafia infiltration in the agri-food sector, which until then was scarcely underlined, even by insiders. Instead, also thanks to the awareness-raising activity of the former prosecutor, the need to turn the spotlight on the topic as much as possible emerged clearly. The food sector, in fact, is among those "preferred" by organized crime for recycling activities. Of course, this interest of the mafias is not without risks from the point of view of food security. And therefore it brings with it consequences on the health of consumers.
