Discover talent is the selection with which the JRE Association, which brings together young haute cuisine chefs, rewards the most deserving students of the fifth classes. Prizes for study and work grants

Tuesday June 4 have been decreed i winners of Discover Talent, the selection of talents in the kitchen and dining room created at the School of Stresa (partner of the Festival) by JRE, the Association of Jeunes Restaurateurs d'Europe - Italy section, which from the 2013 has partnered with the Erminio Maggia Institute. In competition there are eight fifth grade students in the Enogastronomic address and six in Sala e vendita.

Three winners will receive the opportunity to work in contact with great chefs and maître. Given the skill of the competitors, the jury chose to award two ex aequo boys for the kitchen address: Lorenzo Zanni (class 5 ° B food and wine) and Martina Di Stefano (class 5 ° A food and wine). Both will get a six-month employment contract at a facility connected to the JREs. The winner for the Hall and sale address è Marco Consonni (class 5 ° B hall and sale): will receivethe registration of a year at Intrecci, exclusive High School training hall founded by the Cotarella family.

The first part of the selection, now in its fifth edition, took place on Monday 13 May. The dining room students had to try their hand at different types of tests: the mise en place, the wine service, the presentation of the menu and the creation of a cocktail from a basket of products proposed by the jury. The young cooks, on the other hand, had to prepare a dish and nine tastings using the proposed ingredients, in the name of poor cuisine and recycling (pork ribs, shrimp heads and chicken wings).

The day of the 4nd June has been cheered by a lunch in the restaurant's dining room, prepared and served by students with the coordination of their professors and with the participation of chef JRE Federico Beretta, who signed the dessert. The Discover Talent project is organized by JRE and the Maggia institute with the collaboration of HOSPES and is supported by partners such as Intesa Sanpaolo and Marchesi Antinori.

La hotel school partnership with JREs materializes in a two-year training course: a series of lessons for all fourth and fifth students of the two hall and kitchen addresses. The course also provides that the most deserving students can do their work experience - alternating school work - within some JRE facilities. At the end of this two-year course Maggia students receive a certificate with a joint signature of the school and the JREs, which is added to the baccalaureate. An important recognition for those who want to enter the world of food and wine, given that the Association of Jeunes Restaurateurs d'Europe - Italy section brings together young and high-level chefs, many of them starred.
